Comparing the Subaru Impreza to the Honda Civic

  • A key advantage the Subaru Impreza enjoys over this worthy challenger from Honda is in its standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, making it one of few midsize sedans or hatchbacks on the market to offer this drive line. Honda has yet to equip the Civic with an all-wheel drive system.
  • The Impreza offers much more interior space and comfort for all five passengers, with its four-door sedan offering 112.1 total cubic feet of passenger volume and its five-door hatchback model offering almost 122 cubic feet in total. The Passenger volume of the Hondas Civic stands at 97.8 cubic feet and its hatchback model was discontinued a couple years ago.
  • While most trims of the Impreza come standard with front fog lights, for maximum illumination when driving through Wexford at night, this feature also comes available on the base 2.0i trim as well. Fog lights are available on higher trim levels of the Civic, but unavailable if you choose the base trim.
  • If you are looking for the more affordable sedan overall, the Subaru Impreza is the right choice as it begins at a starting price almost $2,000 more than the Honda Civic.

Comparing the Subaru Impreza to the Toyota Corolla

  • While both of these sedans are well-matched in their fuel economy, the standard horizontally-opposed engine of the Subaru Impreza contributes a bit more powertrain, generating up to 152 horsepower and 138 total pound-feet of torque. The inline four engine of the Corolla generates 132 horsepower and 128 pound-feet.
  • Along with this robust engine, the Impreza offers a more comfortable acceleration  with standard manual transmission and a smooth-performance from its available seven-speed automatic transmission. The only transmission on the Corolla is a clunkier continuously variable transmission with more imprecise gear shifts.
  • Ultimately the Impreza offers more passenger space as a sedan or a hatchback, with its four-door sedan model providing 112 cubic feet of passenger volume over the 97.5 cubic feet of the Corolla, giving you a more comfortable drive out to Allison Park.
  • For a little extra convenience, the Subaru Impreza comes available with a windshield wiper de-icer for the cold nights in Gibsonia, along with front fog lights and a roof rack. While fog lights are available on certain trims of the Corolla, the other features are absent entirely.
